San Francisco’s very first Japanese immigrants (or Issei) arrived in early 1860s, settling generally in Chinatown and South Park. At the same time, on 1870s, the fresh West Introduction (such as the belongings who become Japantown, or Nihonmachi) subdivision had been transformed from an exotic, chaparral environment for bobcats, rabbits, and you may quail, toward a great Victorian community.
